The 8/1980 and newer FJ40 is the rarest of them all, and the most evolved mechanically. Featuring the same drive train found in the FJ60 up until 1987, this generation FJ40 has freeway friendly gearing, a larger gas tank, better parking brake, more responsive brake system, quieter transmission and transfer case design, and improved ergonomics thanks to floor tracks and reline functions on both front seats. This particular FJ40 has lived in Southern California it's whole life. It has been looked after with great care since new. The original owner had it set up with a tow bar, and it spent much of it's time in tow behind a motor home. The second owner is a military officer here in Southern California. While in his care, it has continued to be garage kept and well loved. The truck originally has graphic stickers on the body (applied by the original selling Toyota dealer). The previous owner removed these stickers, and replaced the front grill panel to eliminate a hole left from the removed tow electrical set up. The removal of the graphics damaged the original paint on the hard top side panels, and left a ghost image on the front doors. The doors are still 100% original paint and they are acceptable to run as they are. The side panels were repainted with care, but the paint color match is not correct.
